Autism Ability Advocates, Inc. Promoting the Independence, Health, & Happiness of Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders A 501(c)3, charitable organization, registered with the state of SC. My name is Denice Stout, director and founder of Autism Ability Advocates, Inc. I would like to humbly request your assistance. I am currently seeking a talented writing to turn my PowerPoint presentations on Autism into published books or manuscripts I can turn into publishers. (Honestly, I am not really sure how it works hence requesting the help of others.) Autism Ability Advocates, Inc. currently has three programs. One is called “I CAN” – Independently Communicating and Networking. It is a program that gives individualized awards to families who care for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Another program is called “Reclaiming Your Calm”. It was implemented when I realized the deterioration of families that had children with autism in their family. The “Reclaiming Your Calm” activities provided to mothers are meant to re-motivate and reboot our stressed out moms, increase their effectiveness as parents, and build up the marital relationships! Activities have included yoga, Wednesday Walks, and support group. Lastly, I have the “I HHOPE” – Independence, Health, & Happiness through Ongoing Professional Education. This is a program in which I conduct training workshops on effective interventions used for individuals with ASD. Some examples include “Sensory Integration – A Make-and-Take workshop”, “Using PECS for Functional Communication” “Transition Portfolios for Individuals with Autism”, “Visual Supports for Individuals with Autism”, etc. I've probably coordinated over 100 workshops in the past ten years. For many I put together PowerPoint presentations, copied them and then distributed the information to each participant. I've had many personal requests to publish my work, but I never find the time. That's where you come in! I would like a creative writer to turn some of my PowerPoint presentations into published books. I could hire somebody, but do not want to use the little money my organization does have for this purpose. By acquiring volunteer support (or someone who can do it for $50) I can continue to keep my workshop prices and “I CAN” programs to a minimum or free and reach populations not usually served like single mothers, foster parents, and grandparents caring for the more severely affected. Just so you know, my time and effort is volunteered to my organization. I do not receive a salary. This is because I know how important education and support is when you have a loved-one or student with autism. My own son is now 12 years old. He is non-verbal and diagnosed with severe autism. Sincerely, Denice Stout, MAT Director of Autism Ability Advocates, Inc. |

| I understand that you want to have something written and designed on a volunteer effort. However, I think that you should consider getting a grant to write these books. Then you know you will be able to afford a professional writer and designer. I have 30 years' experience as a writer, and helped someone with her dissertation on autism. My son is an illustrator and designer. We could put together an e-report (25 pages) or e-book (50 and more pages) for you with a very reasonable budget. I wish you all the best with your organization. Sharon L. Cohen | ||||
